When Deacon Steven Pautler told his brother Brian that he was going to seminary in hopes of entering the priesthood, Brian replied, “It’s about time! I can’t believe you’ve waited this long!”
On Thursday, May 3, the late 1st Lieutenant Dennis Peek, was inducted into the Mater Dei (Breese) Hall of Honor. Fellow classmate Howard Kapp, who led the effort to include Peek, was especially pleased that 16 members of the Vietnam Veterans of American, Clinton County Chapter, were in attendance to honor his close friend.
Like many jobs, the vocation of deacon has changed over the years for Doug Boyer. Boyer, a deacon for St. Mary Parish, Belleville, says his vocation is nothing like he thought it would be.
These days Nick Fleming is the only seminarian from the Diocese of Belleville at Kenrick-Glennon Seminary in St. Louis. While it is certainly a singular honor, he would not mind some company.
