How important are our children in 21st century America? I ask the question because we have so many ways our children are pulled from one direction to the next, it’s hard not only to establish but also to maintain a strong, faith-filled family life.
There are four Passion Narratives. Each expresses the theology of the author. There are considerable differences among them. Mark’s Passion Narrative is thought to be the oldest. The best hypothesis sees strong connections between Mark, Matthew, and Luke.
On the fifth Sunday of Lent, the cycle of readings from the Gospel of Luke takes a detour through the Gospel of John. The story of the woman caught in adultery with its theme of repentance and forgiveness fits well into the Lucan cycle of readings, but does not fit so well into the Gospel of John.
