Just before daylight on Oct. 19 the relic of St. Maria Goretti was escorted into St. Peter Cathedral in Belleville where she would remain until 11 p.m. that night.

Among the many people speaking at a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Cottages at Cathedral Square in Belleville Oct. 16 was cathedral’s rector, Msgr. John Myler.

Each spring and fall, with the help of a local farm family, the Diocese of Belleville sponsors a farm blessing at a diocesan farm. This fall, the family of Shirley and Paul McCormick hosted the blessing on their grain and livestock farm near Ellis Grove.
