The name of this feast day, Corpus Christi, is the Latin word for “Body of Christ.” Although this ancient name is still used, the new name, “The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ,” more fully expresses what is celebrated.

Before commenting on the gospel reading of the Feast of the Holy Trinity, it is worthwhile to give a brief history of the development of this feast. Devotion to the Holy Trinity was not known in early Christianity except in some invocations in the New Testament and in the baptismal formula of The Great Commission in Matthew 28:19 … .
